This is a series of linked workshops to explore how
we inhabit our bodies as well as our environment; both are ‘home’,
yet we rarely connect the two. The body is the medium through which we
experience
ourselves and the landscape. Body awareness is a key component in developing
a new relationship to our environment. This is an experiential
course, with exercises to develop internal and external maps and landscapes,
deepening a sense of place and relationship. Working with the senses,
breath, awareness and movement, participants get in touch with
the ecology of the body. The course material is profound and can bring
about changes in our attitudes towards ourselves and the world we live
in.
Inspired by the landscape of the Vale of White Horse,
the course takes place in the heart of the natural environment. The material
draws on
a number of sources, including yoga, authentic movement, mindfulness,
experiential anatomy and the natural sciences to bring you closer to
yourself and your environment. Working alone, in pairs and in the larger
group, the course takes you on a journey from the beginnings of
the earth, via personal stories and experience, to reclaim a lost wisdom
of people and place. Some of the work takes place out of doors.

within the human body’ – John O’Donohue
